Since I've already reviewed Mukhsin sebelom ni, dan ramai akan play reviewer aku rasa aku takyah ulas pasal Mukhsin lagi selepas previewnya earlier today. This is simply because aku rasa kalao korang nak tau how the film is, there is nothing better than getting up that rear end, paying the minimal cinema entrance dan gi ler menikmati one of the most tastefully done love stories in Malaysian cinema. There are no two ways about it....Mukhsin is amazing in all its simplicity. What was more amazing was the preview itself. Antara ramai ramai yang hadir untuk tayangan pra-tonton Mukhsin, terlihat beberapa orang yang, well...selama ni memang bukan pun dikenali sebagai peminat kerja Yasmin Ahmad. In fact, spotted in the crowd who thronged Cinema 12 of Golden Screen Cinemas kat MidValley Megamall were David Teo, Professor Razak Mohaideen dan juga Raja Azmi. Amik ko... for those yang follow Yasmin's films, you'd know the significance of these three names in attending the preview. Tapi going back to the premiere, before even Mukhsin could touch me again... (sebab da tengok offline version atas jemputan Yasmin sendiri kat Leo Burnett months ago)...Yasmin did it with her opening speech. With other filmmakers in the house, Yusry (Norman ada sekali), and not all of them her fans, Yasmin said something really touching. When she started it with, "ramainya manusia" I thought there was going to be a sarcastic jibe from her. I know I would have done that...part of my defensive nature in not allowing anyone to hurt me. Then she just continued on to welcoming them, noting that they weren't exactly her friends but added that she wished them to stay to hopefully enjoy the movie. That's just being gracious. Of course in my situation, kalao aku wat camtuh pun orang tetap problematic and wouldn't understand that....but Yasmin seems to have that effect on people...salute to you, dearest... I felt almost sorry for some folks who had been in arms against me....tapi I suppose that stopped when the bitching about me didn't. Still...I was touched enough to hold back...at least for now. Tuhan akan membalas... An eye for an eye...you know that saying kan... so ho hum... Apapun...more importantly...I was touched...again...by Mukhsin. tetap dalam beberapa babak, sampai nak masuk ending...airmata tetap meleleh. And I found myself singing along to Hujan (original composition by Yasmin's dad - at the end of the movie her whoole family gather in front of the piano - another touching scene though it wasn't really part of the movie). Apapun, memang five star effort, and one of Yasmin's simplest movies...memang kalao sebelom ni pun orang kata Sepet dan Gubra terlalu artistik, walaupun aku rasa tidak sangat... Mukhsin memang simple dan straightforward... And the most important message in the whole movie...bukan pasal bab cintan...tapi mengenai peluang kedua. Second chances are always there...and He allows us the luxury of them. Premis cita simple je...Mukhsin yang berumur 12 masa cuti sekolah, telah kenal ngan Orked yang ketika tu umur 10. And the rest you can pretty much figure out. It's a story about first love...and most importantly how to move on in your life without regrets. Mukhsin was directed by Yasmin Ahmad, and stars Sharifah Aryana (Orked), Mohd Syafie Naswip (Mukhsin), Sharifah Aleya (Mak Inom), Irwan Iskandar (Pak Atan), Adibah Noor (Kak Som) dengan cameo from Sharifah Amani. Abang Jason pun ada tau...cak!!! Filem terbitan Grand Brilliance Sdn Bhd ni also features the brilliant acting of Sharifah Aleya Syed Zainal Rashid (sebagai Mak Inom - complete the trio of sisters) dan Adibah Noor as the laugh-a-minute Kak Yam. Fantastic cast....!!! Anyways...spent time chatting with Ning and kak Dibah pasal fiasco in Cit Cat kat Terengganu...then a little more time with kak Fati and her lovely daughters...and also with Yasmin and her parents, who were simply adorable and reminded me of my own. Ok ler...ni beberapa pics aku sempat rakam kat pra-tonton Mukhsin. Hope you guys like it....now, prepare to go to the cinemas when it open on March 8 in 30 panggung satu Malaysia.
The two upcoming stars of Mukhsin! Syafie dan Aryana yang memang berbakat abih!
Tengok tu...Syafie paling kena kerumun kat pra-tonton tuh. Lakonan mantap walaupun hanya berumur 14 ketika penggambaran Mukhsin.
The proud mother and her new baby, Mukhsin.
Adik ni aku tak ingat nama, tapi bak watak Ayu yang mulot jahat. Very the typecast sebab muka dia pon nampak evil sikit. I actually know someone who not only acts like that...but also looks like that!
Nani ada cameo dalam Mukhsin. Aleya lak yang bak watak Mak Inom tak dapat hadir at the preview.
Kak Fati and her very talented daughters (minus absent Aleya). Yang paling kanan tuh (Alesya - who's number three between Nani dan Yama) bakal membintangi filem baru Yasmin, Mualaf.
Yasmin's own beautiful family...ngan parents dia. Aunty Inom Yon (cam familiar nama Inom kan?) dan uncle Ahmad Hashim. Thanks kak Min for introducing me as the one bitten by Jack. Heh!
Just got back from Terengganu....letih siot. Bak keta pun terhoyong hayang da...zig zagging here and there. Sampai balik je lak petang tadi, terus ada nak jumpa seseorang. Lega lak...brings a smile thinking about it. Yes...yes...life is good at the moment... Anyway, sebelum apa-apa, ni dia seperti dijanjikan...the second webisode of 60 Saat Bersama... featuring Ina Naim seperti yang dijanjikan. Based on feedback from all of you, aku try improve banyak benda...tapi biasalah. Dalam tengah belajar sana sini nih, masih ada kekurangan, hope you guys like this episode. Next pun lak... featuring Nabila. Now on to the webisode.
I know masih ada kekurangan sana sini...so hope you guys can be patient and allow me to fine tune things slowly ek. Anyways...erm...semalam punya program Cit Cat kita tak ikut sangat. Letih lak nak gi benda alah sukaneka yang di anjurkan, so slept in dan bangun only about noon. But rupanya, artis ramai pun tak menghadiri, so ok ler. Tengahari majoriti meka pi soundcheck, kita serombongan ni decide, nak gi jalan-jalan sikit. Atas jemputan wakil kerajaan Terengganu, kami gi ler makan kat restoran terapung dekat area pasar Payang tuh yang kami gi shopping ari sebelum. After lunch, we were taken on a boat ride (sempat nak edit Ina punya inteview sana sini while on the ride). Enjoyed the scenery and the wondrous beauty of nature,,,but teringat lak Mauritius. Honestly, Terengganu reminds me a lot of Mauritius, tapi susah gak nak challenge, Kalao korang jalan ke Mauritius korang tau ler kenapa...it's very different. Memang cantik gila babas sana...and I don't think I've ever been to a place with such wonderful natural attractions as there. Tapi ni some of the pics aku sempat rakam ler on our time out nak jalan jalan.
Cantik pemandangan, kan??? Sehingga dicemari group pic bebudak naik bot kami tuh yang comprising of member media. Amik ko ada orang tak betui dalam pic ketiga tu sekali. Yang ala lambai padahal tanak diamik gambar kak Izan from Astro, and last pic tu si Faizal merenung sambil si Opee leh baca buku...apa da...
Time kita nak leave the jetty tu perasan keta ni sebelah jalan lak. Aiyo!!! Abang!!! Apa tido sampai camni... bebudak sempat nak bergambar sebelah keta tuh posing ngan abang tu tanpa dia sedari... keji!!!
Anyway, headed back to the hotel late evening about 5 plus...masa tu bebudak ala ala running on Energizer, masih bertenaga nak main beach volleyball dan sebagainya. Aku planning nak berenang, tapi kat swimming pool je...sebab dengar baru baru ni ada orang mati lemas kat area hotel Primula nih...so tak mau ler... Speaking of scary stuff, kami dengar baru sehari dua or something like that sebelom kami dok sana, ada orang bunuh diri kat bilik 401....merasalah Rudy dan Zul dok sebelah bilik tu. Tapi meka tau pasal benda tu masa kita nak check out je...the rest of us tak sampai ati nak bagitau. Tapi takde ler meka kena kacau ke apa apa...bukan cam masa aku stay Royal Adelphi tu...sampai benda terkut ikut (aku penah cita pasal tu dalam entry lepas lepas masa gi sana tuk rakaman Raya Anita over a year ago). Back to the topic...erm...supposed aku nak berenang...tapi fell asleep. Jaga jaga, da time nak get ready sebab kami nak bersiap tolak ke Kelab Teluk Warisan tuk Malam Gala Mesra Sokmo Cit Cat. Macam macam.... Apapun, thanks a lot to kerajaan negeri Terengganu for their fantastic hospitality...termasuk seseorang dari SUK tuh...heh! Ni some of the pics from Malam Gala tuh..again aku malas amik banyak sangat...and yang ada pun quite blur sebab dim sangat lighting dia...but hope you guys like it.
Marsha, Diddy and Velvet.
Bebanyak pics Akma ni tuk peminat Akma yang rindukan tengok dia....last one with Bob dan Marlia Musa.
Setakat tuh jer ler pics dari Ganu. Hope korang suka. I know I had a beach of a time there, walaupun ada umpatan sampai ke telinga aku pasal ada ler dua ekor binatang keji ni nak wat cita ngata aku. Takper...karma...as I always say. Except in the case of one, it's going to come big, and it's going to come fast. And it's oing to hurt. Some people so dengki kan kalao kehidupan meka tak amount to much...accusing others of what they do tuk kaburkan orang pasal warped personalities meka nih. Takper...aku ok jer. I make more than you, I have more REAL friends that you...and I am making something of myself....the only thing you have...is my sympathy you turned out like this. Cheers!!! Aku nak end kan entry ni da...esok ada lunch meeting, and then preview of Mukhsin. Malam kang, ke esok aku posting entry baru ek. Toodles!!!
PS. Feedback dari semua memang memberangsangkan tuk 60 Saat Bersama... dan aku bangga bukan je blog readers dan forummers Cari memuji usaha aku, tapi para artis yang sudahpun view usaha aku yang tak seberapa ni sebab it gives them a fairer chance nak deal ngan soalan soalan yang berat sikit nak jawab ni. Thanks semua!
Semalam started early. Masing masing dari kengkawan media sampai ke geng artis, semua turun ngan mata lebam tak cukup tidur berkumpul nak start beberapa aktiviti tuk event Senyum Sokmo nih. Aduh...my eyes are just going to be so puffy pasnih...asik lack of sleep je. Pas kumpul, kami bertolak kawasan A&W, tuk jemput beberapa agik artis yang baru sampai. Kecoh lah...dalam lepak lepak, jadik meet the fans session lak. Ni som of the pics yang aku amik...malas nak cita sangat sebab kang membosankan lak ngan details. But the whole day was packed, and among the places we went were Muzium Seni, area Losong (jadik hantu kepok), Equestrian Resort...
Awal pagi berkumpul tapi masing-masing bersemangat! Nikki, Yanie, Adi Fashla dan Farish together. Diserbu peminat pun, si Farhan no problem melayan. Ning meanwhile tetap every bit a diva with her new look. Cool highlights!
Kat Muzium Seni, panas!!! Ni si Nabila dan Que pun pening. Tapi sempat photo session...abang Hattan gung-ho and very upbeat. Banyak sangat photo opportunity sampai pening nak amik pic so sikit sikit je amik. Last pic si Velvet, Farhan, Farish dan Diddy posing sakan.
Da sanggup posing bersama tanpa masaalah. Diana (Rafar) dan Diana (Naim)
Kat Equestrian Resort. Bukan gambar pelakon wanita seseorang ni ek. Walaupon moka panjang gaks. Ning dan one of the most gorgeous steeds kat stable at the Equestrian Resort.
Lunch at A&W. Kak Dibah blanja aku ngan Bob float...tima kasih kak! Lurve ya!!!
Kat Pasar Besar Payang. Shopping sakan! Tamau kepok...bau ikan bilik hotel. Beli batik je banyak.
Ni je pic aku amik malam show kat Dataran Shahbandar. From outside looking in. My view from one of the busses into another also with artiste. Sibuk bergambar antara memasing.
Malam tu, letih sebenarnya sebab seharian berjalan...erm buat kerja. Sebenarnya letih nak ke show kat Dataran, but had to. Tension bijik sebab organisation cam $%^&U. Bayangkan ler crowd beribu tapi security pun takde. Merasalah kena double up jadik emergency security crew ngan bebudak production crew. Bayang kan ler...FRU takder...RELA takde...polis lak enam orang je bertugas...ngan beberapa yang pangkat besar. Tu pun yang enam orang tu kerja in two shifts. Keji...ramai artis panas je. In fact, this was not the only incident yang bikin panas entourage media dan artis ke sana. Ramai lagik jadi...malas nak tulis sangat...tapi trust me, semua suratkhabar dan majalah akan kuar ler...panasssss!!! But all in all...it was stll personally no less fun sebab jarang kan nak ramai ramai kumpul camni. Kecuali time time anugerah. So this was really fun... Especially so sebab I met seseorang tu yang pernah banyak kali aku serempak kat KL tapi tak penah tegur. Rupa rupanya dia bertugas ngan SUK sana...orang Ganu gak rupanya. Patutler jarang jarang aku tengok muka dia kat KL. kejap ada kejap takde. Anyway...I got a taste of Terengganu hospitality...and me likey!!! Hit the pillows dekat kol 6 pagik lebih je pas panjang berceloteh ngan Juan dan si Min dari Bacaria....nanti another update on the long day I went through today...
Hari ni aku nak perkenalkan something yang aku plan before mai Terengganu ni. Dah benda ni in planing for some time, tapi skangje leh execute. Mulai ari ni, aku upload the first webisode of 60 saat bersama... Program ni eksklufi menampilkan artis menjawab pertanyaan yang orang gosip kan. So pasnih pepandai ler korang suggest nak aku interview sapa, ngan soalan apa. Everything in 60 seconds or so worth of interview, straight to the point. Cakap ler kalau korang suka ek hasilnya...
Anyways, semalam sampai ke Teregganu, kita semua ke Kelab Teluk Warisan for dinner. Sambil sambil tuh habiskan ler interview yang mana mampu and all. Here are some pics from dinner semalam...
Si Que sibuk gayut...si Velvet lak..entah apa tujuan nak juling jiling ni. Si Diddy lak terikut, dan yang last tuh, teka siapa??? Hah!! Nabila tuh!!!
Letih, tapi seronok ler. Nak gerak check in jap agik. Enjoy the first episode of 60 Saat Bersama... di mana first episode featuring Marsha. Second episode da siap pun...featuring...erm... tunggu je. Bila ek nak siarkan...nak sekali seminggu ke dua kali seminggu. Matilah aku kalau nak daily kan...heh! Posting tomorrow....
Pagik tadik ngan mata panda sebab tak tidur, gi join rombongan berkumpul ke Astro untuk nak meet the others ke Terengganu untuk program Mesra Sokmo Cit Cat. Memang riuh rendah...pening...tapi at least ilang la ngantuk yang mula mula terasa. There were sampai empat bas. standby, and penoh semua. Mmm...biasa ler janji Azwan tuh...standby 9 pagik...gerak da dekat kol 11. Sekor sekor tension jer sebab mata masing masing cam kena penumbuk (bukan self inflicted cam kes popular dulu). Anyways, ni pics dari masa kita nak berlepas.
What's wrong with this picture yang aku snap of the bus aku naik?
Crowd yang gather masa kat Astro. And antara yang berlepas sekali (Bob, Marsha, Amylea, Nita (sembunyi tepi Razali tuh sambil Velvet usha dari sudut tuh) dan Akma.
Aku malas update sangat....on the road...more coming... oh and by the way...and premiere of something new here esok...so tunggu!!!! Mana ada wifi tuh aku tompang update....tapi tu pun tengok kalao ada masa ek.
Music is beautiful, no matter what language it is in. It transcends the boundaries of race, religion, and even that of a geographical nature. Here's my list of songs from Indonesian pop and rock acts that are on my playlist, some of which are my all time favorites. Some old, some new and some just bloody timeless. Enjoy the sounds and listen beyond the music and the words - and instead tune into the emotions of each tune. No matter what genre they may be.
Say NO! to the hateful and malicious nature of some who choose to close our local music market for fear of competition simply because they are unable to compete, and unwilling to even try.
Support Malaysian music. Don't kill it by being ignorant. Music is ever evolving, and our local sound is slowing being rendered irrelevant. This is my protest against those who choose to be anti-Indonesian music, simply because SOME of our local talents and recording outfits are too lazy to innovate and create. This is the sound of Indonesia today. Are we up for the challenge to evolve and produce better music in healthy competition?
WHAT I'M ON
KLUBBKIDD
So...just what do you want to know about me?
I'm simple, and yet complicated.
It's as simple as that...but then again, perhaps not.
My life is kinda like my job, an oxymoron. Try this one out for size...'ethical journalist'. See, told you so.
Anyway, here's a brief (yeah right!) intro to my life.
I'm a proud Malaysian (and I mean literally!), of Chinese descent. I'm Christian (Roman Catholic!).
I'm kinda whacked. I believe in piercings, dyed hair, black nails, silver studs. leather and spiked accessories and oh... tattoos...body art is just that...art. Apart from anything else that will make me worth staring at.
Right now, I have a total of seven piercings (three on lobes - two left one right, left ear cartilage, nose, lower lip and tongue) with three taken out on brow (one ripped) as well as three tattoos with more to come.
Forget the tough exterior, cause I believe in hugging my parents, crying when I feel like it, require tender moments with my significant other, and I appreciate my friends. As Kim from America's Next Top Model said it best. "What's my secret? I may look tough on the outside, but really, I scream like a girl!"
Fictional?
I 32 as of last July 17, and it's past the mid life crisis come early for me as I struggled to deal with the coming of age thing. I am working as a freelance senior entertainment journalist, a job which I have been at ever since I decided to quit college, two subjects short of graduating. I was taking my Diploma In Sound and Audio Engineering. Until recently that is.
Now I do a lot of freelance overall talent consultancy which includes image and communication. I am also in the process of starting my own company klubbkidd Sdn Bhd, which is producing its first TV show from a format that I have created myself. The show will most likely be on air sometime end 2008.
I have donelive sound production for some concerts and shows and a little bit of studio work in hopes of becoming a sound engineer with what I've studies, when I turned back to my first love, writing.
Was doing general news, specialized awhile in politics, did a little features, crime, business and sports and dabbled in related journalism fields before finally settling into my current position, thankfully, entertainment, the perks of which is doing what I've always loved (writing and indulging in music) and also backstage passes to meet my favorite acts. It's eleven years now, and I'm still golding it there.
Looking back - whatever's gone on in my life - it's not too hard to be positive and look ahead, with more pleasant of the memories to make the journey a little easier.
And these very memories which I cherish so, are the reasons behind why I started blogging.
The friendships and variety of relationships I've been through, allow me to highlight the mistakes I've made and how not to repeat them, not to compromise my principles too much for love, and also a balance in sacrificing my ego, and how I must learn to be stronger in the face of adversity.
So I've never figured myself to be a real hoot.I pace on day by day, occasionally skipping, sometimes with just a little jaunty bounce. More often than not, I go smack! either on my rear end (which needs more meat) or flat on my face.Life treats me well, I suppose, so I shouldn't gripe. I am stll my own hero - that's positivity through self-affirmation for you.
